SSC COMBINED HIGHER SECONDARY LEVEL EXAM PATTERN AND SYLLABUS
Scheme Of The Examination: SSC CHSL examination takes place in three phases (Tier 1, tier 2 and tier 3) which are compiled elaborately below with all the syllabus so that you can prepare for the exam in a systematic manner.
TIER 1 EXAM PATTERN
It is a computer based written examination.
English Language - 25 Qns - 50 Marks - 60 MINUTES (75 minutes for visually handicapped candidates)
General Intelligence - 25 Qns - 50 Marks
Quantitative Aptitude - 25 Qns - 50 Marks
General Awareness - 25 Qns - 50 Marks
TOTAL 100 Qns - 200 Marks
NOTE : There will be negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer.
TIER 2 EXAM PATTERN
Letter/Application writing 150-200
Essay writing 200-250 Word limit - 100 Marks - 60 MINUTES
NOTE: Candidates need to secure at least 33 percent in the exam in order to clear this stage of SSC CHSL.
TIER 3 TYPING TEST
To be qualified for the exam, English typing – test will require a speed of 35 words per minute and Hindi typing – the test will require a speed of 30 words per minute mandatory.

SSC CHSL Tier II Syllabus
Candidates, SSC CHSL Tier-II Exam will be of descriptive type i.e. Pen and Paper Mode. The time duration for this exam will be of 60 minutes only. The descriptive exam will be organized to assess the writing skills of the applying contenders, which is required in Government jobs. When, you’re going to appear in Staff Selection Commission CHSL Exam, you can write the answers in Hindi or English. This exam comprises writing of an Essay of 200 – 250 words and Letter / Application writing of about 150-200 words.
SSC CHSL Tier III Syllabus
Skill test for Data Entry Operator:
The skill test will be organized only for Data Entry Operator post. Applicants must have Data Entry Speed of 8,000 (eight thousand) Key Depressions per hour on Computer. The ‘Speed of 8000 key depressions per hour on Computer’ will be adjudged on the basis of the correct entry of words/key depressions. Only 15 minutes will be allotted to the aspirants. The printed matter in English containing about 2000- 2200 strokes/key-depressions would be given to each candidate who would enter the same in the Computer.
Typing Test for Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant LDCs and Court Clerks:
After qualify the Computer based Written Examination (Tier-I) and Descriptive Paper (Tier-II), you’re eligible to appear in Typing Test. This exam will be qualifying in nature only and it will be organized in English or Hindi. It will be run on the Computer, to be given by the Commission or any organization authorized by the Commission.
